USW Policing Professor publishes new book

crime strengths

Professor Colin Rogers, Head of Research at the International Centre for Policing and Research has just published his latest book entitled Plural Policing: Theory and Practice, published by Policy Press.

The book is part of a series of publications in the Key Themes in Policing series, aimed to reflect the importance of incorporating evidence based policing within Higher Education curriculums, especially as policing is expected to become a degree profession in 2019.

Professor Rogers' book reflects the broader historical context of plural policing, as well as contemporary challenges, acknowledging the fact that police work has always been carried out by a large number of diverse agencies. It also discusses the potential challenges for the way in which communities will be policed in the future.

This is the thirteenth book published by Professor Rogers on police and crime related matters since the creation of the International Centre for Policing and Security.
