IP & Commercialisation

This section provides researchers with information and guidance on what is IP, how you can create and protect IP, understanding how you can commercialise IP and the importance of confidentiality.

The University believes that IP created by staff through research should be protected and used to strengthen its economic and social impact on society. Our mission is to establish the best possible environment for IP to be created and accessed by society based on the following principles:

  • Encourage innovation and impact and provide incentives such as internal investment, recognition and financial rewards.
  • Develop talented research staff who wish to create impact from their research through a range of CPD activities particularly for early career researchers.
  • Provide routes to collaborate with external partners and associates including business contacts, investors, policy makers, charities, funders and other contacts to help maximise the impact of the IP.

Researchers IP Toolkit

The resources below have been developed to help you manage and commercialise IP you create at the University in line with USW policies and UK Intellectual Property law.

Please contact the RISe team if you are interested in commercialising your IP.
